This page, and perhaps the next, is all about the Dellroy Community Volunteer Fire Department. In
the late 40's a group of men decided to develop fire protection in the village. Bob Mallernee had
open his store on Main Street and Roy Davy had the funeral home next door. Along with these two
men, a group gathered and started the plans for a fire protection that would keep the residents
covered.
Today, we have one of the best equipped departments in the area. Each fireman is fully trained and
certified. Paramedics and first responders are called out at all times of the day to answer any
emergency. And when the siren sounds and the pagers go off you know that help is just minutes
away. They train weekly and are always there when needed. By doing all this, the department has
lowered the homeowners fire insurance. They have built the equipment inventory from one truck to
a fleet of well supplied vehicles.
Pictures of the department before the late 40's are not available. I think you will enjoy the first one.

This was the original hose cart
used to fight fires and other things
in the village.
It was on display at the first
homecoming in 1949 and I am told
the pump is at the Fire House.
The group to the right were the first group
of officers (and others).
