I suddenly realized, while reviewing the site, that I hadn't placed any pictures of my family and
ancestors here.
My grandmother, Ethel Hoffee, was an Allerton and her parents lived on North Smith St. in a house
that I don't remember and I haven't found a picture of that house yet. It was around 24 N. Smith St.,
about the 2nd house from the last house.
Her parents were Isaac Allerton and Suzanne McLaughlin who were married September 27, 1877.
To this marriage were born 6 children, including Clyde Allerton and my grandmother.
On September 26, 1908 she married Bernett W. Hoffee and they had two children, Merle and my
father, Gail.
Gail was born July 6, 1910 in Dellroy and died December 12, 1984. On October 15, 1928 he
married Olive Mary Huffman, daughter of Clay Huffman and Alice Susan Vance. Clay and Alice had
a total of 10 children. Olive was born March 24, 1909 and died November 11, 1979. Gail and Olive
had two children, my brother Bob and myself.
The records exist that show Ethel Allerton was a descendant of the Isaac Allerton who came to
America on the Mayflower in 1620. The original book, which a newspaper article talks about, has
never been found. Through the diligent efforts of several people, including my cousin, LeRoy
Hoffee of Fort Worth, Texas, the lineage has been traced and verified.
My mother, Olive M. Huffman, was born in West Virginia. Her father, Clay, moved with the family to
Carroll County around 1926 and Mom graduated from Dellroy High School. A 300+ acre farm had
been purchased off of Explorer Road and the remaining children went to Dellroy School and
graduated there. All of this generation remained in the area, married locally and raised their
families here and two are still living in Dellroy today.
Below are pictures of my family, God bless them all.

Upper left in chair is Mary
Frances Morral Huffman. She
and her remaining children
moved to Atwood, right behind
where Chef Ernie had the
Creamy. The MWCD tore it
down along with the house. She
came to the Dellroy area along
with Clay and Preston, her sons.
The house was sold and razed
after her death.
Upper photo is of: Faye, Olive,
Quentin, Ma, Doris Jean and
Genevieve.
To the left is Clay and to the
right of him is Alice or Ma.

These two pictures are
of Bob, my brother.
To the left he is holding
a baby barn owl that
came to town with three
more siblings and their
parents and took
residence in our front
trees...what a time!
The picture to the right
was taken while he was
taking chemo for lung
cancer.

Two of my favorite
uncles.....
Dale, who died in
1956. He may be
gone but that smile
and his laughter will
always be with us.
And Quentin...who
knows how much he
gave for my freedom.
He never said much
about his service in
WWII, but he was
there!
This gives a little of the history of my group. A lot of them are no longer here to give their love and support, but I feel
sure that they know we are doing OK and their spirit walks with us daily. I sometimes long for the good old days when
we were together, but I know in the future, we will meet again.
If any of you would like a picture of your loved ones entered on a page, please let me know. I will be happy to post
them.
